Nexus W2V Advancing Sustainable Energy Solutions in Northwest Indiana

Nexus W2V was recently highlighted in Northwest Indiana Business Magazine as part of a broader look at companies driving sustainability and long-term economic value across the region.

At the Kingsbury Industrial Park in LaPorte County, Nexus W2V is developing a bioenergy facility that converts organic waste into pipeline-quality renewable natural gas. Using anaerobic digestion, the plant processes food waste from sources such as hospitals, schools, and other institutions, separating non-organic materials before transforming the remaining waste into biomethane.

The project addresses a significant environmental challenge: roughly one-third of waste is organic. By diverting this material from landfills, the facility not only produces a valuable domestic energy source but also helps extend landfill lifespan and reduce emissions associated with waste disposal.

Once complete—expected this summer, with gas delivery anticipated later this year—the facility will connect directly to a NIPSCO pipeline, supplying renewable natural gas to the broader energy network.

Nexus W2V’s work reflects a growing trend among companies recognizing that sustainability initiatives can deliver both environmental impact and long-term economic returns.
